WAEC Grant Program

At Mkali Africa, we believe that no student should be denied the opportunity to achieve their dreams due to financial barriers. The WAEC Grant Program is designed to support secondary school students in West Africa by covering the cost of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exam fees.

Why This

Matters

  • The WAEC exam is a critical step for students to complete their secondary education.

  • Without this certification, students are unable to pursue higher education, vocational training, or many career opportunities.

  • Thousands of talented youth face a bleak future simply because their families cannot afford the registration fees.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The grant is targeted at secondary school students in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and The Gambia who demonstrate financial need and academic potential.

  • Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in a certified secondary school and a recommendation letter.

Application Process

  • Students or guardians submit an online based application through Mkali Africa’s website.

  • Applications require basic information, academic transcripts, a personal statement, and verification of financial hardship.

Review and Selection

  • Applications are reviewed by a selection committee comprising Mkali Africa staff and local partners.

  • Priority is given to students with strong academic performance and a demonstrated commitment to their education.

Grant Disbursement

  • Approved students receive grants directly to cover WAEC registration fees. Payments are made either directly to WAEC offices or through partnering schools to streamline the process.

  • Recipients are notified with sufficient time to prepare for their exams.
